HUNTERSVILLE, NC — The Holbrook Street Expansion project is set to be completed in January, according to the city of Huntersville.

Holbrook Street will be open to traffic east of Marguerite Lane to Aldi's parking lot, city officials say. The goal is connectivity, and the city promises two additional projects to make it work.

The two future projects will stem from Holbrook Street to create alternative routes to and from Gilead Rd and US21 (Statesville Road).

Several residents commented on the announcement expressing concern that the project may be too narrow on Holbrook.

"It's a glorified alley, not a street," commented Huntersville resident Andy White. "Two cars can't pass each other," he said of an area of Holbrook.
