Hurricane Ida Remnants To Bring Wind, Rain: Huntersville Forecast
The remnants of what is now tropical storm Ida could dump several inches of rain in NC this week. Here's Huntersville's forecast.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — The remnants of what is now tropical storm Ida could dump several inches of rain in parts of the Charlotte metro by Wednesday. In addition to heavy rain, the storm could bring tornadoes and flash flooding.
Hurricane Ida made landfall in Port Fourchon, Louisiana, Sunday morning as a Category 4 hurricane with winds of up to 150 miles per hour. The storm has since caused thousands of power outages in Louisiana and the flow of the Mississippi River to reverse, according to reports. More than 1 million are without power in the New Orleans area as the storm makes its way up the coast, according to The Weather Channel and others.
According to the National Weather Service, the storm's remnants will skirt the western edge of North Carolina on Tuesday, departing Wednesday morning. The storm could produce periods of heavy rain and possible tornadoes as it moves through the region.

The heaviest rain is expected in western North Carolina Tuesday and Wednesday, with heavy rain moving into central areas of the state Wednesday, according to North Carolina Emergency Management.
Huntersville could see nearly 2 inches of rain from the storm, according to forecasters.

NWS issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook bulletin Monday for western North Carolina, along with the Piedmont, including Mecklenburg County.
"The remnants of tropical cyclone Ida are forecast to pass from the Tennessee Valley to the central Appalachians Tuesday into Wednesday," the National Weather Service said. "Periods of heavy rain and breezy southerly winds will develop Tuesday afternoon into the evening hours and continue into Wednesday. Isolated severe thunderstorms with a weak and brief tornado or two will be possible, mainly Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday morning."
