  1. You are invited to participate in the first-ever Memorial Ruck, which will be held on Monday, May 29, starting at 9 a.m. at Richard's Coffee Shop on Main Street. (Registration opens at 8 a.m.) It will be a 5K Muck March to remember and honor those who have fought for our country. 2. Jay Clark and his sports literature students at Mooresville High School were able to raise $15,000 at their Cornhole for Cancer tournament. The money was presented to Rocky River Elementary School dual-immersion teacher, Rosa Guerra who has been fighting cancer after being diagnosed in the summer of 2022. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "Guerra — or Miss Rosa, as the kids call her — is from Peru and has been teaching for MGSD in the dual-immersion program since 2021. [Grateful for the donation Guerra said to the students], 'Having cancer made me realize that even during the periods of despair and distress, I could still find wonderful people around me. I cannot be more grateful to you for doing such a wonderful job. You brought me such moments of joy and peace and made me believe that we still have good-hearted people in this world. I am very proud of you! Live life to the fullest.'" (Subscription: Mooresville Tribune)
  3. Although Babba Wallace, the only Black driver in NASCAR's Cup Series, didn't hear, "Go back to where you came from" and the other non-racial expletive directed at him after he finished last Sunday's race at North Wilkesboro Speedway, it was troubling and an investigation into how Wallace's radio channel at All-Star race was hacked. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "Forde said NASCAR is trying to determine who cracked Wallace's radio communications and how it was done, as well the best method toward preventing it from happening in the future."(Subscription: Mooresville Tribune)
