  1. Join the Mooresville Park and Recreation Department in celebrating National Park & Recreation month in July! Help celebrate by showing some love and have fun snapping pictures of yourself or your favorite area in one of Mooresville's Parks.   2. It was a unanimous vote by the Board of Commissioners to approve the rezoning measure that will allow the 34-acre plot of land at Perth Road and N.C. 150 to be developed into a new residential and business district. According to a Mooresville Tribune article, "the plan has been in the works for more than a decade. The property owners, the Brotherton family, who have owned a large portion of the property for more than 90 years, have been working on how to best develop the land. The plan for Alton Village that was decided on, calls for 298 multifamily units, 47 townhomes, and space for retail businesses and restaurants all to be contained within the property."   3. Rising senior at Liberty Prep, 16 year-old Aiden McCall of Mooresville, was recently awarded as a co-medalist at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh. According to Statesville Record & Landmark, "at this qualifying site on June 16, Aiden finished the round with a 1-under-par 71. Aiden will be one of more than 200 Juniors from around the United States competing in the prestigious 2022 US Junior at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Oregon. Televised on the Golf Channel, this Junior event will take place July 25-30." Congratulations Aiden! (Statesville Record & Landmark)
  4. According to Aerotech News, "missile defense agency, Corvid Technologies LLC in Mooresville, is being awarded a sole-source, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a ceiling value of $44,000,000. Task orders issued under this contract will be firm-fixed-price. Under this follow-on contract, the contractor will provide mathematical algorithm development, computational analysis and range safety analysis support for Missile Defense Agency flight test events and related activities. Work will be performed in Mooresville, N.C., with an ordering period of five years from June 23, 2022, through June 22, 2027. A task order in the amount $1,406,027 is being issued at time of award. Fiscal 2022 research, development, test, and evaluation funds in the amount of $1,406,027 are being obligated on this task order at award." (Aerotech News)
