Arrest Made In South Iredell High Threats Incident
A student accused of making widespread threats of violence at the high school has been charged with a felony.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A South Iredell High School student was arrested and charged with a felony Friday on allegations of threatening the school, authorities said.
Iredell-Statesville Schools and Troutman Police Department released a joint statement on Friday announcing that the student had been charged with a felony count of false report of mass violence on an educational facility.
No details of the incident were available, but Interim Police Chief Lt. Darrin Payne said the school police officer was able to prevent the threat from becoming more.

“Due to the quick response of our school resource officer and school administration, we are fortunate that no incident occurred other than a threat,” Payne said. “Our officers promptly addressed the threat in order to keep our schools, students, and staff safe.”
Schools Superintendent said the district had no tolerance for student behavior like this.

“The safety of our students is our number one priority,” he said. “Our goal as it relates to campus safety is to work collaboratively with law enforcement to swiftly remove any credible threats. We will address these situations to the fullest extent of the law.”
