Here are the top stories in Mooresville today:

  1. NASCAR Technical Institute (NTI) will be the site of a trio of car show fundraisers coming up. Mark your calendars for May 13 from 2-6 p.m. The hosts of the shows, Tamsen Beroth alongside Luis Abreu and Paule Ogburn (owners of Columbia Car Meets) and the sponsors and vendors for the series Audi Charlotte, Tint World of Mooresville, Hagerty, Eagle Carports, Stiffy Mounts and Vin Fast, are all reportedly excited for the family friendly events. Additional show dates include July 15 with a rain date of July 22 and Sept. 16 with a rain date of Sept. 23. The time will be the same for all three shows, 2-6 p.m. (Mooresville Tribune)
  2. Join the Mooresville Police Department next week for National Police Week. MPD and the Mooresville/Lake Norman Exchange Club for a National Police Week Ceremony on Monday, May 15 at 10 a.m. on the lawn of Town Hall. Hope to see you there!" (Town of Mooresville NC via Facebook)
  3. Keith Eugene Lackey Jr. a convicted felon, was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after his SUV was pulled over for having no rear operating lights. According to Fox 46 Charlotte, " The deputy stopped the car at East Plaza Drive at Norman Station Boulevard in Mooresville. When deputies approached the SUV, they saw an AK Pistol in plain sight in the vehicle’s backseat. Deputies identified Lackey Jr. and determined that Lackey Jr. was a convicted felon. Lackey Jr. got a $100,000 secured bond on [his] charges." (Fox 46 Charlotte)
