Child Electrocuted Near Mooresville School, Flown To Hospital

Prayers Needed: The child was taken to the hospital immediately by helicopter.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A child was severely injured after coming into contact with a live, downed powerline Wednesday afternoon around 3:45 p.m., according to Mooresville Fire-Rescue.

The powerline was adjacent to Mooresville Intermediate School on Coddle Creek Highway where the child came into contact with it.

The child was transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center, and then flown to CMC-Main. His condition has not been released.

Duke Energy confirmed to Patch they immediately sent crews to check on the powerlines and make repairs as needed. They do not know if recent storms are what caused the downed powerline but are investigating.
