Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:

  1. β€œDue to the inclement weather forecasted for Saturday, December 31, the Town of Mooresville's 150th Anniversary Kick-Off Fireworks Spectacular will be postponed until Saturday, January 14. Activities will still happen between 4-7 p.m. and the fireworks will begin at 7 p.m." Hope to see you there! (mooresvillenc150.com)
  2. Do you want to add to your family? Look no further than these Mooresville animal shelters for a pet available for adoption. Many pets are still looking for their forever home and facilities are still working to fulfill adoptions and place pets with families. Over 6 million pets are surrendered to adoption facilities each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. However, only around half of all shelter pets are adopted each year, according to ASPCA data. This means millions of animals β€” some right here in the Mooresville area β€” are still waiting for their forever homes.(Patch)
  3. According to a Facebook post on the Mooresville Police Department's page, "Don’t drink and drive this holiday season. Mooresville Police Department and other law enforcement agencies in North Carolina are currently running their annual holiday Booze It and Lose It campaign. They increase the number of patrols and officers in an area and set up checkpoints to ensure drivers are not impaired. People caught driving while impaired can face jail time; lose driving privileges; and pay an average of $10,000 in fines, towing fees, and other expenses." Stay safe this holiday weekend!
