Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:

  1. Get ready to be surprised when the Mooresville Police Department unveils its show car at Sheldon's K9s Fall Fest Saturday. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "The car — a public outreach and recruitment tool for the department — is the vision of a group of officers made possible by overwhelming community support. What began as an idea hatched at a local car show in 2021 soon gained traction when presented to the department’s command staff. To kick off the project, the department contributed a 2012 Dodge Charger, a detective’s car, that was scheduled to be retired. The car can be used for town events, local or regional car shows, or local community events. A show vehicle not only builds connections with the tight-knit car community, but it also serves as an icebreaker and talking point, helping the department better build connections in their community." Check it out Saturday and see what you think! (Mooresville Tribune)
  2. Do you have expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and syringes? The
Mooresville Police Department will be hosting a drug and syringe take-back event Saturday, October 29, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Cannon Pharmacy, as part of the US Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Take-Back Day.
This initiative is designed to help the public prevent prescription drug abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and syringes. According to a Facebook post from the MPD, "The public can bring personal prescription medications and syringes for disposal at Cannon Pharmacy on October 29 or drop them off at the Mooresville Police Department’s drug drop box, located at 2487 Charlotte Highway, 24 hours a day. Since this initiative began in 2012, Mooresville Police Department has collected and destroyed over 10,609 pounds of prescription drugs through take-back events and the drug drop box. Drug deactivation kits for home use, naloxone, community substance abuse resource guides, and drug lock boxes will also be available at the event."(Mooresville Police Department via Facebook)
