FeedNC Summer Supply Drive Underway In Mooresville: How To Donate

FeedNC is collecting thousands of pounds of food for needy area families this week. Here's how to donate.

MOORESVILLE, NC — FeedNC is holding its annual Summer Supply Drive this week, and aims to collect thousands of pounds of food for needy families throughout the Lake Norman and Charlotte region.

Donations for the event, which runs through Friday, July 23, will be accepted at the food pantry located at 275 South Broad Street in Mooresville from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. each day.

"We have a goal to collect 8,000 pounds of donated supplies," Bonnie Battalia, development director for FeedNC, told Patch. "If you feel compelled to donate, we would appreciate your generosity as these items will go directly to supporting those in need here in our community."

Here's FeedNC's schedule of supplies needed:

  • July 19: Mom Support Monday — Diapers, Diaper Cream, Wipes, Formula
  • July 20: Tackle the Chores Tuesday — Trash Bags, Glass Cleaner, Hand Sanitizer, Paper Plates, Plastic Utensils
  • July 21: Work Your Magic Wednesday — Canned Vegetables, Canned Fruit, Pasta Sauce, Chicken & Beef Broth, Salad Dressings, Canned Soups
  • July 22: Thankful Thursday — Full-size toiletries.
  • July 23: FeedNC Friday — Dry Goods including Cereal, Crackers, Chips, Rice, Pasta, etc.

Iredell County is among places profoundly affected by hunger this year.

Before the pandemic, about 12 percent of residents in Iredell County were considered food insecure, according to Feeding America. The continuing economic fallout from the health pandemic has raised that number to nearly 14 percent of the county's residents who are on the brink of hunger.
