Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:

  1. Food trucks will be taking over downtown Mooresville this weekend, so get in line for tasty tidbits. On Saturday, September 3 the Festival of Food Trucks will converge on Main Street and Broad Street. The Oscar Mayer Wiener Mobile will be on site handing out goodies (they don't serve food). The food truck lineup is as follows: Asian B on wheels, Baltimore Crab Cake Company - Charlotte, Big City Bites and Big City Sweets, Bodega Food Wagon, C&J Chicken & Fish, Carolina Smash Truck, Duck Donuts, Katie’s Snack Shack & More LLC, KOfoodtruck, Mambo on Ruedas, OooWee BBQ, Sandwich Express Food Truck and SkyView 22. SOBER Mobile Bar Music will be provided by dialUp Radio. In addition, adult beverages will include: 158 on MAIN, 202 North Main Fine Wines, Spirits and Music Room Dive Bar, NC Murto, Made Distillery, Mooresville On Tap, Ghostface Brewing and King Canary Brewing Company. The Mooresville Parks & Recreation is offering childcare during the event. Look for details and sign up here: https://secure.rec1.com/.../mooresville.../catalog. Hope to see you there! 2. MIWAYE, an acronym according to the Mooresville Tribune, for Meshing Initiatives With Alternative Youth Education, was established in 1996 as a response to the increasing number of students identified as at-risk for not graduating from high school. The Mooresville Graded School District's MIWAYE program has been a big success and as such, MGSD's Superintendent Dr. Jason Gardner traveled to Raleigh to give a presentation about the program to an N.C. House select committee. “Our motto in MGSD is ‘Every child, every day,’ and I believe our MIWAYE program is a vital element to living out that motto. MIWAYE is truly a model for how alternative education can be individualized to best support our students so they are prepared to leave our district and be successful in whatever future pathway they choose," Gardner said, according to Mooresville Tribune. 3. Following a five-hour search with the help of police K-9s and drones, Mooresville Police were able to apprehend 25-year-old Chaunquarious Robinson, 21-year-old Altoninal Jackson, and 19-year-old Ke’Andre Moore. The three men were arrested in relation to a string of Mooresville car break-ins. According to Fox 46 Charlotte, "MPD’s Assistant Chief Frank Falzone says the department could only prove the trio broke into six cars at the time of their arrest. However, the department says at least 15 cars were hit. They told Queen City News they believe the trio is responsible for all of Sunday night’s break-ins, and more charges are forthcoming. “I think it’s going to be much higher than [15] once all the reports come in. We have a lot of delayed reports when these spree crimes occur,” said Assistant Chief Falzone. Officers say all cars that were raided were unlocked. That’s proved to be a growing problem in Mooresville." (Fox 46 Charlotte)
