  1. Looking to add a new member to your family and do something good for the world at the same time? Consider adopting a dog, cat or other kind of pet from a local shelter or organization. Many pound animals are still looking for their forever home and animal shelters are still working to place pets with families. Over 6 million pets and other companion animals are given to shelters each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Shelters often look after other animals in search of a permanent home as well, including pigs, birds and even horses.(Mooresville Patch)
  2. A Board of Commissioners meeting was was held recently, filled with special recognitions! According to a Facebook post by the town of Mooresville, "Outgoing Ward 3 Commissioner Barbara Whittington was honored for over 30 years of service to the Town of Mooresville. Coach Napolean Lowery Jr. was honored for 50 years of service in the Town of Mooresville. The retirement of Matthew Hilton from the Public Utilities Department (August 1, 2022) after over 25 years of service to the Town was celebrated. Charles Mack Citizen Center's Michael Thompson was honored as winner of the 2022 Service Excellence Award for Pride. Mooresville Parks & Recreation's Jim Donaldson was honored as winner of the 2022 Service Excellence Award for Safety. Mooresville Fire-Rescue's Shawnjay Holtham was honored as winner of the 2022 Service Excellence Award for Excellence. September 4-10 was recognized as National Suicide Prevention Week.   3. Mooresville is getting a new store. "A leading specialty retailer of hard-surface flooring will expand its nationwide footprint when it opens the doors to its newest location in Mooresville on September 14. The Floor & Décor warehouse store and design center will open with a team of about 50 full-time and part-time associates led by Brittany McMillen, the new store’s chief executive merchant, according to a press release. “Floor & Décor is thrilled to open our doors in Mooresville,” said McMillen. “We are excited to introduce both professional customers, as well as homeowners, to our one-stop solution for their flooring needs with an extensive selection of in-stock, trend-right flooring options." The Mooresville Floor & Décor store will be giving away a $5,000 floor makeover as part of its grand opening festivities. Starting on September 14, customers will have the chance to register to win a $5,000 gift card from Floor & Décor. Interested parties can register online at www.floormakeovermooresville.com.
