Huntersville Man Charged With Rape In Iredell County: Sheriff
Martin Cuevas Marquez, 41, faces four counts of first-degree rape charges in Iredell County, the sheriff's office said.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — A 41-year-old Huntersville man was arrested and charged with four counts of felony first-degree rape stemming from recently reported incidents that investigators were told occurred 14 years ago, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office said.
Last month, the sheriff's office received a report of the sexual assaults that occurred throughout the year of 2006 in western Iredell County. A sheriff's office detective interviewed the victim, who identified Martin Cuevas Marquez, 41 and of Huntersville, as the suspect in the case. The victim told investigators the suspect was an acquaintance at the time of the assaults.
An investigator located several witnesses and gathered evidence, which was then used to obtain four felony first degree rape warrants for Marquez. He was also wanted on two outstanding warrants for misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon in Catawba County, ICSD said.
