                   Five Counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a ChildÂ
Location of Incident:Â Western Iredell County.
Suspect(s): Ray Douglas McCoy, 56 Years Old

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated: On Monday, December 27, 2021, a report was filed with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office in reference to a child possibly having been sexually assaulted. The victim was nine years old at the time the assaults according to the report.
The case was assigned to Detective Sergeant K. Campbell with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victim’s Unit. When the victim was interviewed, information was obtained about the time and locations of the assaults. The suspect was also identified as Ray Douglas McCoy.
Detective Campbell conducted additional witness interviews and obtained items of evidence during the course of the investigation.Â
Based on all of the evidence gathered throughout the investigation, Detective Campbell was able to obtain arrest warrants for Ray Douglas McCoy.
McCoy was arrested on Thursday, February 3, 2022. He was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was charged with: Felony Statutory Sex Offense by an Adult, Felony Dissemination of Obscenity to a Minor, and Five Counts of Felony Indecent Liberties with a Child.Â
McCoy appeared before Magistrate M. Russel who issued a 150,000.00 dollar secure bond on these charges.Â
