Iredell County Government: Stony Point Man Charged With Felony Drug Crimes.

Offense(s)/Charge(s): Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Crystal

                                      Methamphetamine

                                      Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled

 Location of Incident: 349 East Lackey Farm Road, Stony Point.

 Suspect(s): Richard Eugene Wingate Jr., 41 Years Old

Sheriff Darren Campbell stated:  On Thursday November 18, 2021 investigators with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit executed a narcotics search warrant at 349 East Lackey Farm Road, near Stony Point.

 Narcotics Investigators received information from community members about Wingate possibly being involved in the sale of illegal drugs. A surveillance operation was established in the area. Narcotics Investigators and Road Patrol Deputies were able to make contact with individuals who had recently visited Wingate’s home. Those people were found to be in possession of narcotics. With this information, investigators confirmed Wingate was distributing narcotics.

 Narcotics Investigators were able to eventually purchase narcotics from the residence and directly from Wingate. Based on all of the information gathered throughout this investigation, Narcotics Investigators were able to receive a Search Warrant for the residence located at 349 East Lackey Farm Road.

 When the search warrant was executed, Richard Eugene Wingate Jr., and a female were located inside the home. During the search investigators located Crystal Methamphetamine inside the residence. 

 Wingate was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center where he was served with arrest warrants for: Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Crystal Methamphetamine, and Felony Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale or Use of a Controlled Substance. Magistrate D. Chambers issued 50,000.00 dollar secured bond on these charges.

 Criminal history: Two Counts of Misdemeanor Larceny, 17 Counts of Felony Break or Enter a Motor Vehicle, Felony Breaking or Entering, Misdemeanor Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Misdemeanor Larceny, Misdemeanor Common Law Forgery, Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Misdemeanor False Report to a Police Station, Misdemeanor Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance.
