Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:

  1. It's going to be a cold weekend! According to a Facebook post from the Town of Mooresville, "this Christmas is expected to be one of the coldest we’ve seen in North Carolina in decades! And while Santa and his elves are used to this weather, the pipes at our homes are not! The Mooresville Public Utilities Department wants to make sure you know how to prevent frozen pipes. Click this story for prevention tips and what to do if your pipes freeze: https://www.mooresvillenc.gov/news_detail_T4_R71.php. Note: The Mooresville Public Utilities Department has staff available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with water or sewer emergencies. Call 704-664-4278 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday. After hours or on holidays/weekends, call 704-664-3311. Please note that Town offices will be closed December 23 and 26." Stay safe and warm this holiday season! (Town of Mooresville NC via Facebook)
  2. Want to add a shaggy ball of four-legged love and affection to your family and do something good for the world at the same time? Maybe it's the right time to adopt a pet! Many pound animals are still looking for their forever home and shelters are still working to place pets with families. This means millions of animals β€” some right here in the Mooresville area β€” are still waiting for their forever homes. With help from our friends at Petfinder, Patch has compiled this week’s list of animals available for adoption near you. Whether you’re looking for cuddles or companionship, one of these animals could be the perfect fit for your family. (Mooresville Patch)
  3. According to jrmracing.com, "JR Motorsports' Late Model team has been on fire the last several seasons, and its performance in 2022 was nothing short of blazing. Carson Kvapil, Josh Berry and team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. combined to win eight races in 27 starts, notching 23 top-five and 27 top-10 finishes from February to November. Kvapil, in his first full season as driver of the No. 8 iRacing Chevrolet, impressed from the start. In three starts at the end of the 2021 season, the 19-year-old got a jump on 2022 by finishing fourth, third and second in the big season-ending events at Florence (S.C.) Motor Speedway, Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway and again at Florence. The second-generation star was the logical successor to Berry and the late-season starts served as a springboard for his championship-winning tour in 2022." (jrmracing.com)
