1. In the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association's 4A state playoffs, the top-seeded Lake Norman girls' basketball team took the win in an 80-61 triumph over 16-seed Mallard Creek. Lake Norman's swift, to the point and unpredictable playing strategy proved to be extremely successful. Now Lake Norman (28-0 overall) will host 8-seed Independence in today's third round. 2. Adrian Rashaun Lyons, a Mooresville resident, has been charged with murder in the death of his infant daughter who "died by blunt force trauma from assault," according to WSOC Charlotte. "After the autopsy report was released, detectives got a warrant for Lyons for felony first-degree murder. Lyons is still being held in the Iredell County Detention Center." (WSOC Charlotte)
