Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:

  1. On Wednesday, Team Penske's Media and Event group displayed remarkable community spirit by volunteering at FeedNC, a local charity. The team diligently sorted through a whopping 3,800 pounds of unexpected food donations, assisted as Grocery Guides and Cart Patrol, helped at Donoghue’s Open Door, and even detailed FeedNC’s vans and cleaned the warehouse. FeedNC expressed immense gratitude to Team Penske for their invaluable contribution to supporting neighbors in need in the LKN area. (Feed NC via Facebook)
  2. As the Fourth of July approaches, Fire Marshal Jason "Woody" Workman of Mooresville cautions residents and visitors to exercise vigilance to avoid accidents, burns and even fatalities due to fireworks. He emphasizes that fireworks led to over 19,000 fires and sent more than 9,000 people to the ER in the US in 2018, and advises attending professional shows for a safer experience. Moreover, Woody recommends the use of glow sticks as an alternative to sparklers, which can reach 1,200°F, and shares safety tips such as buying fireworks from reliable vendors, keeping a hose or bucket of water nearby, and never allowing children to handle fireworks. 3. In an impressive display of racing prowess, Kyle Larson, a Mooresville resident, secured his third consecutive top-five finish at Nashville Superspeedway during last weekend's NASCAR Cup Series. Skillfully leveraging pit cycles and showcasing remarkable speed in the final run, Larson clinched fifth place in the intense 300-lap race. Notably, the 30-year-old driver has a history of success at this Tennessee venue, with a victory in 2021 and a fourth-place finish on the 1.33-mile oval in 2022. (Speedway Media)
