Mooresville Man Accused Of Uploading Child Pornography: MPD

MOORESVILLE, NC — A 36-year-old Mooresville man was arrested and faces numerous charges related to uploading child pornography, Mooresville Police Department said Friday afternoon.

Mark Joseph Laporte, 36, was charged with six counts of second degree sexual exploitation of a minor, MPD said.

MPD said the arrest was a result of an investigation into peer-to-peer uploads of child pornography in the Mooresville area, and included assistance from detectives in the Boone Police Department, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.

"Detectives and agents executed a search warrant at Laporte’s residence on February 18,
and located and seized evidence in relation to the sexual exploitation of minors," MPD said.

Following his arrest, Laporte was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center, where his secured bond was set at $300,000, MPD said.
