Mooresville Pill Take-Back Event Set For Saturday: Details

MOORESVILLE, NC β€” Mooresville Police Department is set to host a drug and syringe take-back event at Cannon Pharmacy in Mooresville this weekend.

MPD will be on site collecting the items at Cannon Pharmacy, located at 521 East Plaza Drive, on Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The event was originally scheduled for last weekend at the Mooresville pharmacy, but was postponed due to inclement weather.

"As part of the US Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Take-Back Day, Mooresville Police Department will be hosting a drug and syringe take-back event to help the public prevent prescription drug abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs and syringes," MPD said.

Also available at the event will be drug deactivation kits for home use, naloxone, community substance abuse resource guides, as well as drug lock boxes, MPD said.

"Since this initiative began in 2012, Mooresville Police Department has collected and
destroyed more 10,193 pounds of prescription drugs through take-back events and its
drug drop box," MPD said.

Can't make it to the event Saturday? MPD also has a drug drop box located at the police department headquarters at 750 West Iredell Avenue, available 24 hours a day.
