- Recruiting help from the public to find out what happened to their stolen racing chairs and trailer, the Speed for Need nonprofit has made a public request. According to Yahoo News, "The theft occurred on Thursday. Kevin Young, co-founder, and executive director posted a video on the nonprofit’s page asking for help and for people to be on the lookout for the racing chairs on the side of the road around Cotswold and Oakhurst. “Obviously it would mean the world to us to get our equipment back. And soon we have races coming up in two weeks,” Young said. The organization is asking anyone who knows the whereabouts of the trailer to call the police." (Yahoo News)
- The Mooresville Police Department and the Mooresville/Lake Norman Exchange Club will hold a National Police Week Ceremony on Monday, May 15 at 10 a.m. on the lawn of Town Hall. The event will honor and remember MPD’s three officers who lost their lives in the line of duty; Chief of Police James Rimmer (EOW December 7, 1938), and Detective Lieutenant Larry Barger (EOW July 13, 1974), and, most recently, K9 Officer Jordan Sheldon (EOW May 4, 2019). The ceremony is open to the public. National Police Week is May 14, 2023—May 20th with National Peace Officer Memorial Day observed on May 15. Hope to see you at the event!
