Nearly 800 COVID-19 Confirmations Reported In Iredell County

Public health officials confirmed more than three dozen county residents have tested positive for COVID-19 in the span of two days.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Iredell County confirmed at least 790 cases of novel coronavirus Wednesday, 42 more than reported Monday afternoon, according to public health data.

Iredell's increased case count comes as community spread of the virus continues around the state. North Carolina's case count rose by 1,843 Wednesday, increasing the total number of confirmed cases to more than 66,000 and marking the highest increase in day-over-day confirmations yet in the state.

The numbers of actual cases of COVID-19 are likely much higher, according to one federal public health official. Actual COVID-19 rates are likely 10 times higher than the number of confirmed cases, Robert Redfield, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Thursday.
