According to a Mooresville Tribune article, "In September 2021, the North Carolina General Assembly passed a bill allowing cities and towns to create “social districts” to help provide a boost to downtown businesses statewide." To that end, according to the article, the Mooresville Board of Commissioners recently passed a new ordinance specific only to downtown Mooresville. It allows people to carry alcoholic beverages, in public, in specially-marked to-go cups, between the hours of noon and 10 p.m. seven days a week. (Mooresville Tribune)
