- The prosecutor has decided not to file charges against the officers who fatally shoot and killed Daniel Turcios, on Interstate 440, in January, after Turcios swung a knife at the officers. According to a Mooresville Tribune article, "Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman said Raleigh police officers were justified in fatally shooting Daniel Turcios. Reportedly, officers used a stun gun in an attempt to subdue Turcios, but Turcios refused commands to drop the knife, and one of the officers shot him as he swung the knife toward them." According to the article, "Turcios’ widow, Rosa Jerez said police could have done a better job of defusing the situation, considering that her husband was heavily disoriented by the [car] crash and did not speak English well." Are you a Mooresville resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)

- Carolina Waterfowl Rescue: Don't be a fawn napper! It's very common for moms to leave babies for the day while they forage. It's their hope that they leave it near humans that it will keep predators that will eat the baby away. They will often hide near your home or even up inside your home. This does not mean the baby is orphaned. Please contact a licensed rehabilitator before moving a baby fawn. Unless they are crying running around looking for the mom or showing signs of dehydration or hunger they should be left alone. (Mooresville Chamber of Commerce via Facebook)
