- Sad news from Raleigh, according to the Mooresville Tribune, "a girl died on Saturday after she was struck by a vehicle towing a float for a holiday parade in North Carolina, police said.
The driver who lost control of the vehicle and struck the child was arrested and charged with reckless driving and other offenses, the Raleigh Police Department said in a news release. Police identified the driver as Landen Christopher Glass, 20. Witnesses told WTVD-TV that people attending the Raleigh Christmas Parade heard the pickup truck's driver screaming that he had lost control of the vehicle and couldn't stop it before the crash. The girl struck by the truck had been participating in the parade, police said. The News & Observer reported that the girl was part of a dance troupe. The driver, was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle, careless and reckless driving, using improper equipment, unsafe movement and carrying a firearm in a parade."(Mooresville Tribune) - Don't forget, on November 22, the famed Mooresville Christmas Parade will take place! The All Events website says, "Come celebrate the holiday season with The Feed Bucket and the local rock cover band Hella Stellar! Bring your chairs and watch Hella Stellar perform Christmas music in the Mooresville Parade (and afterwards at this event) from the parking lot of The Feed Bucket located at 557 N Main Street Downtown Mooresville. Corn hole boards will be set up as well as other festive games. There will be a pet holiday costume contest with prizes sponsored by The Feed Bucket and Patterson Land Clearing. All ages and types of pets welcome! Bring your own chairs and beverages! (All Events)
