Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:
- Did you know that statistics uncovered by Anne Mautner, the founder of The Mooresville Kindness Closet, show that a reported one in four students [in the district] do not have access to the period products they need? It’s that lack of access to needed period products that The Mooresville Kindness Closet works to combat, by distributing products in six schools in two districts. Kindness Closet is now hoping that legislation purposed by State Representative Julie von Haefen of Wake County is passed, so it can further its cause. According to Spectrum News, "von Haefen says she’s looking into legislation that would repeal the tax on period products. Jacqueline Ferguson is one of The Mooresville Kindness Closet’s volunteers and says with a young daughter she sometimes has to choose between products for both of them and other necessities. “For a lot of single moms or moms in poverty, you know, we get food stamps. We get WIC. And that covers our food and stuff. But [it doesn’t] cover anything for that." Mautner [added], "Having the state fund, you know, a very basic need, especially in a school, is critical."'(Spectrum News)

In the meantime, Mooresville Parks and Recreation asks that you please refrain from visiting the park to allow for completion of the resurfacing. Any foot traffic on the new surface before it cures can alter the end result. (Mooresville Parks & Recreation via Facebook)
