Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:
- Who doesn't love spaghetti? A spaghetti supper will be held at the Mooresville AR Presbyterian Church, 659 Carpenter Ave. on January 27 from 5-7:30 p.m. According to Mooresville Tribune, "the meal will be carry-out and dine-in. The cost is $10 per plate, which along with the spaghetti will include salad, bread and dessert. There will be a choice of different sauces available — meat, nonmeat and chicken Alfredo." Hope to see you there! (Mooresville Tribune)
- Was it Lighting McQueen in real life! According to KTVU Fox, "A truck was hit by lightning Wednesday, causing sparks to fly and the moment was caught on camera. A dramatic video captured by JR Motorsports on Jan. 4 shows the moment when the bolt hits the truck in the Mooresville shop’s parking lot, causing the vehicle’s headlights to turn on. The American professional stock car racing team shared the video, joking that they were "starting the year off with a bang."According to JR Motorsports, the lightning struck a truck and then ran along a fence around the building. They said that though the truck had no "visual damage, it will not start!" (KTVU FOX 2 San Francisco)
- If you’re looking to add a four-legged ball of love and affection to your family, start with these Mooresville area animal shelters for a pet who needs a home. Over 6 million companion animals are given to animal shelters each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. However, only half of all shelter animals — about 3.2 million — are adopted each year, ASPCA data shows. This means millions of animals — some right here in the Mooresville area — are still waiting for their forever homes. With help from our friends at Petfinder, Patch has compiled this week’s list of animals available for adoption near you. Whether you’re looking for cuddles or companionship, one of these animals could be the perfect fit for your family. Click on any listing for more information about a pet or to start the adoption process. (Mooresville Patch)
