Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:
- Currently, the Mooresville Christian Mission is seeking sponsors for the 12th annual Turkey Trot 5K run/walk, which will be held Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "sponsorship varies in levels from Diamond Champion for $10,000; Platinum Champion for $5,000; Gold Champion for $2,500; Silver Champion for $1,000; Bronze Champion for $500. Each champion will receive benefits based on the level of sponsorship. Contact Development Director Susan Wolff at swolff@ourchristianmission.org by November 1 to guarantee inclusion in the printed materials and event t-shirts. All the proceeds from the event will support the crisis and empowerment programs provided by the Christian Mission to help families break the cycle of poverty." (Mooresville Tribune)
- According to WBTV, "One person was killed and another was injured after a motorcycle crash in Iredell County on Tuesday evening, police said. According to the Mooresville Police Department, the deadly crash happened around 7:11 p.m. on West Iredell Avenue, near the intersection of North Academy Street. Once at the scene, officers found that a motorcycle and truck had collided. The passenger on the motorcycle, 44-year-old Theescha Renea Proctor, died at the scene due to her injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. An investigation into the crash is ongoing." (WBTV)
- Animals make people happy! Want to add a shaggy ball of four-legged love and affection to your family? Look no further than these Mooresville animal shelters for a pet available for adoption. Many shelter animals are still looking for their forever home and facilities are still working to fulfill adoptions and place pets with families. Across North Carolina, there are thousands of dogs, cats and other animals of all ages, sizes and breeds without a home — and many of them are located near you. Looking to adopt your new family member? A great place to begin the search is at Piedmont Animal Rescue, where Mila the dog is waiting patiently, or another local rescue center. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year-round, many shelters also offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed in appropriate homes. With help from our friends at Petfinder, Patch has compiled this week’s list of animals available for adoption near you. (Mooresville Patch)
