- Did you know Mooresville Police Department has a community resource coordinator who acts as a liaison between crime victims (specifically domestic violence victims) and needed area resources such as housing, counseling, food, etc.? According to a Facebook post on the MPD page, "Lori Carlson serves as MPD’s community resource coordinator. In addition to victim liaison, she also: develops and maintain working relationships between the public and non-profit agencies, as well as faith-based organizations, serves on committees and area task forces to promote safety, empowerment and recovery, makes educational presentations and manages special projects and works hand-in-hand with the officers and detectives to assist and support victims of domestic violence and the community as a whole. Maple St. on October 4 at 7 p.m.? According to the Mooresville Tribune, "the event is free and open to the public. Not only are adults invited, but also older children interested in learning to dance can come and join in the fun with their parents. Western square dancing is the world’s greatest social mixer, using a non-alcoholic stimulant called “fun” and “fellowship.” It is friendship set to music bringing joy, happiness and companionship to many lives!" - Hurricane Ian is in the rearview mirror, however, according to the Mooresville Tribune, "remnants of Ian downed trees and power lines across North Carolina and authorities reported at least four fatalities Saturday connected to the severe weather. “We mourn with the families of those who have died and urge everyone to be cautious while cleaning up to avoid more deaths or injuries," Governor Roy Cooper said in a statement. The highway patrol responded to over 1,400 calls for service and 784 collisions between midnight Friday and early Saturday morning, a spokesman said. Not all were necessarily weather-related. There were no initial reports of major structural damage, though nearly 73,000 people across the state were without power Saturday evening, according to a state outage map. That was down from over 330,000 earlier in the day." Thank goodness there wasn't more damage and hopefully, everyone can get back to normal soon! (Mooresville Tribune)
