Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:
- One hundred and sixty volunteer judges interviewed students and selected the award winners of the 35th N.C. Science and Engineering Fair competition held recently at North Carolina State University. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "Maira Siddiqui of Mooresville, a student at South Iredell High School, earned third place in physics [and] Nachammai Annamalai of Mooresville, also a student at South Iredell, was presented the United States Army Award for physics and mathematics." - Two proclamations and a surprise celebration happened at the most recent Town of Mooresville Board of Commissioners meeting. Mayor Miles Atkins presented a proclamation declaring April 2023 as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Commissioner Tommy DeWeese read a proclamation recognizing April 2023 as Mooresville Public Library Appreciation Month and April 24 as Library Employee Appreciation Day. In addition, Downtown Mooresville surprised Commissioner Bobby Compton with a video and framed certificate and medallion honoring his selection as one of the N.C. Main Street Champions of 2022. - Gas prices are headed in an upward motion. With summer approaching the perfect storm of high demand, tight inventory and new, more expensive fuel blends may equate to higher gas prices. According to the Mooresville Tribune, the current gas price in the state is $3.35. (Mooresville Tribune)
