1. Due to Hurricane Ian, the Symphony Under the Stars concert featuring the Lake Norman Philharmonic was rescheduled to Friday, October 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Liberty Park. 2. Did you know that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month? The Mooresville Police Department Special Victims Detective Watts and Community Resource Coordinator Lori Carlson recently sat down to talk about domestic violence. According to the Mooresville Police Department's Facebook page post, "this week, they explored the question, What is domestic violence? Domestic violence incidents may look very different from stereotypes, but regardless of whether an incident occurs between romantic partners, parents and children, or other individuals living in the same household, there are resources available to help. If you or someone you know is seeking support for a domestic violence situation, please contact 704-872-3403 (Local) or 800-799-SAFE (National). Many shelters in the Mooresville area are still working to fulfill adoptions and place pets in their forever home. About 6.5 million pets are surrendered to animal pounds each year nationwide, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Of those, approximately 3.3 million are dogs and 3.2 million are cats. Shelters often look after other animals in search of a permanent home as well, including pigs, birds and even horses.
