Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:
- Providing hope and a reason to be thankful for this holiday season, HOMe Hope of Mooresville is offering temporary shelter to women and children without a home. According to WCNC.com, "HOMe Hope of Mooresville is a 501(3)(c) organization that specifically provides temporary, safe shelter and support services to Mooresville's homeless women and children. "I was in a really bad place living in Charlotte with drugs, sirens, killings," Melissa Cables, who arrived at the shelter three months ago, said. Teresa Schaeffer has lived in the shelter for seven months. "From the bottom of my heart, they saved my life," Schaeffer claimed. Admission to Hope of Mooresville requires an interview process. Once women are accepted, they are offered case managers, connection resources, mentoring, parenting classes and other types of support to overcome their hardships."(WCNC.com)
- According to Motor Authority, "Porsche on Monday named Nick Tandy and Frédéric Makowiecki as drivers for its 2023 Porsche 963 LMDh campaign, completing the 10-driver lineup for the automaker's return to top-level endurance racing. The campaign will see Porsche enter its new 963 race car into both the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA SportsCar Championship, in the premier Hypercar and GTP classes, respectively. Previously confirmed drivers include U.S. driver Dane Cameron and former Formula 1 driver Felipe Nasr, as well as Matt Campbell, Michael Christensen, Kévin Estre, Mathieu Jaminet, André Lotterer and Laurens Vanthoor." (Motor Authority)
- Talk about a dream come true for young racers! Thirteen teen drivers from across the country suited up as part of the Advance Auto Parts Drive for Diversity Combine. The three-day tryout started on Monday. Up for grabs are three spots in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program that produced well-known drivers like Kyle Larson, Bubba Wallace and Daniel Suarez. On the tryout’s final day the racers will head to South Boston Speedway in Virginia for one last evaluation. The drivers will find out by the end of the year if they’ll be joining NASCAR’s elite program." Good luck drivers! (WSOC Charlotte)
