Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:
- The town of Mooresville is seeking community input! Residents are being asked to fill out a housing needs survey so the Town can better understand what our community is struggling with. Mooresville anticipates receiving approximately $300,000-$400,000 from the Community Development Block Grant Entitlement Program. The money will be used for programs to help low and moderate-income residents, as well as help eliminate slums and blighted properties. The survey will give the rown a better understanding of where Mooresville is currently at and where residents would like to see it go. You can click here to take the survey which is open through March 31, https://www.mooresvillenc.gov/CDBGsurveys. (Town of Mooresville NC via Facebook)
- More than 21 pounds of marijuana were seized by the Mooresville Police. The bust, which happened at an apartment at The Osprey, also included THC vape cartridges, edibles, resin, $4,000 in cash and two handguns. According to wccbcharlotte.com, "police say they received complaints of illegal drug activity in the area and an investigation led to a search warrant being executed." The search of the apartment led to the arrest of Tyler Moore, 22, who resided at the apartment. Moore has been arrested and reportedly charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling to keep/sell/use a controlled substance, possession of firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia. Moore has been placed in the Iredell County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond.(wccbcharlotte.com)
- If you've been looking to add a fuzzy ball of love and affection to your family, start with these Mooresville area animal shelters for a pet you can adopt. There are thousands of dogs, cats and other animals of all ages without a home across North Carolina β and many of them are located not too far from you. On a search for an adorable new family member? Consider checking out a local adoption center like Piedmont Animal Rescue, where Alfie the dog is waiting patiently. If you aren't sure if you have time to take care of a pet year-round, many shelters also offer opportunities to foster pets until they are placed in appropriate homes. Here at Patch, with a little help from our friends at Petfinder, we create a list each week of all the pets recently put up for adoption in your area. If you're a dog person, you might like Sunny, a Great Dane up for adoption. Or if cats are more your thing, there are several great cats available, too.(Patch)
