Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:

  1. According to a post on the Town of Mooresville's Facebook page, "the Town of Mooresville was recently made aware of a petition regarding seasonal sales and Josh's Farmers Market. The petition infers that town ordinances do not support seasonal markets and that town ordinances should be interpreted to allow seasonal markets to operate year-round rather than seasonally. The town has several outdoor markets that operate seasonally. Josh's Farmers Market can, under current town ordinances, operate seasonally under the same requirements as other outdoor seasonal sales markets. Likewise, if Josh's Farmers Market choses to operate more than seasonally or full-time and to sell furniture, sheds or other retail items, the market can operate under the same requirements as other retail establishments. Josh's "market model"— which is as a full-time retail establishment, not an outdoor seasonal sales market —is permitted under town ordinances but will require a permanent home that meets both town ordinances and North Carolina Building Code in order to continue operation. " (Town of Mooresville via Facebook)
  2. For Officer Jessie Scott and K9 Hansel, working together at the Mooresville Police Department to serve their community is a dream job. According to a Facebook post on the MPD page highlighting the duo, "Officer Scott began his career in law enforcement with the Statesville Police Department. After three years, he transitioned to Mooresville Police Department where he has served six years. ... At MPD, Officer Scott is a K9 handler, patrol officer and FTO for the department. He lists K9 handler first for a reason — law enforcement and dogs are two things Officer Scott has always loved. K9 Hansel is a six-year-old Belgian Malinois from Mexico. He is certified in all patrol duties, including tracking, aggression (bite work), and narcotics. "(Mooresville Police Department via Facebook)
