- According to the Mooresville Tribune, "a red spruce from North Carolina will be the Capitol Christmas Tree this year in Washington. This year, we're honored to have this red spruce nicknamed Ruby from the Pisgah National Forest in Western North Carolina's Appalachian Mountains," said the Director at the Capitol Grounds and Arboretum James Kaufman. "We'll set the tree into the West Front Lawn. Our Capitol Grounds and Arboretum team will spend the next several days decorating the tree with thousands of LED bulbs ... hand ... and hand-crafted ornaments from North Carolina communities." - It's officially basketball season! Here is a look at Mooresville's team this season. According to the Statesville Record & Landmark, "Mooresville Blue DevilsHead coach is Armard Moore for the third season. Last seasonβs record: 21-4 overall (10-2 Greater Metro Conference) Key returners: AJ Parsley, guard; Evaan Ezhilan, guard; Xavion White, center Key newcomers: Marley Samuel, Dylan Clark, Jalen Chambers, Travelle Bryson, Miles Samuel Coachβs outlook: Losing eight seniors is going to hurt us but our guys should be very competitive. Our goal is to take it one game at a time and see where the chips fall. I am so excited for this group of guys to see them get better and better."(Statesville Record & Landmark)
- The Iredell County Commission took a moment at its last meeting to reflect and remember departing Chairman James Mallory and the late Marvin Norman. According to Statesville Record & Landmark, "Mallory said,βIt was my deepest wish that I and Marvin Norman could leave the stage together,β Mallory gave a plaque to Juanita Norman in honor of her late husband. βWe had been battle buddies from day one when I came on the board eight years ago, I asked him to be vice chairman. I needed someone with a long view of how we got where we were.β (Statesville Record & Landmark)
