Here are the top three stories today in Mooresville:

  1. Mooresville residents be on alert. Brawley Avenue from Main Street to Summer Street will be closed for the next four weeks. Crews are making road and utility improvements. Residential access will be maintained during the work but please plan ahead and give yourself more time when traveling through this area. (Town of Mooresville NC via Facebook)
  2. "Uncorked & Artsy" is happening on March 31 from 6-9 p.m. to Downtown Mooresville, featuring 16 wine and beer tastings, an Art Walk where local regional artists display and sell works along Broad & Main Streets, plus live music, store specials and light appetizers served both inside of businesses and outside on the sidewalks. Tickets are available for $25. The art and live music performances are free to attend. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Mooresville Arts. (Downtown Mooresville.com)
  3. Jvonta James Dixon, 19, of Mooresville and Dwayne Pernell Allgood, 20, of Huntersville, were arrested Tuesday morning following a call to the Mooresville Police Department (MPD) about a suspicious person who made an unusual inquiry at a business at the Water Tower Plaza located at 467 E. Plaza Drive. Reportedly the caller told the police the suspicious person was still in the parking lot in a car with no license plate on it. When the police arrived Dixon and Allgood were seen in the car reportedly wearing black ski masks. According to WBTV, "as the officer approach[ed] to investigate, both subjects simultaneously fled the vehicle on foot toward a nearby wooded area. One suspect was taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit and additional responding officers established a perimeter and successfully utilized a police K9 and drone to track and apprehend the second suspect,” according to MPD. The were] charged with resisting officers and possession of a stolen motor vehicle, the vehicle was reportedly stolen from Huntersville." (WBTV)
