Here are the top three stories in Mooresville today:

  1. Do you like flowers? The Mooresville Garden Club, which was formed in 1948 and federated in 1952, is making plans to celebrate its 75th anniversary, but it needs some help! According to the Mooresville Tribune, "in preparation of this milestone event, [Garden Club] members are searching for memorabilia of garden club items since the formation of the club to the current time. For those who would like to share items with the club for the observance, contact Robin Perry, chairperson of the club’s anniversary celebration, at mcg75th@yahoo.com."(Mooresville Tribune)
  2. In racing news, TFR Distribution, in conjunction with Buzze Racing and Hamke Racecars, is announcing a new strategic alignment among the companies to better serve the Southern customer base in Modified racing. According to RaceDayCT, "TFR Distribution is the official retail and wholesale distributor for the LFR Race Cars and Troyer Race Cars brands and all brand specific parts and materials. “Tom Buzze and I have been talking about doing something like this for a while now,” said Rob Fuller, owner and founder of TFR. “With Tom putting in the new building, the timing is right. With the building scheduled to be completed by the end of September, the timing is right now.” Buzze Racing, located in Mooresville, N.C., will be the official Southern dealer for all Troyer Modified and LFR Modified needs, from a fully completed chassis to parts and components." (RaceDayCT)
  3. According to the Mooresville Tribune, "North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper wants the General Assembly to pass legislation exempting individuals from state income tax on the student loan forgiveness announced by President Joe Biden last month. The White House has said the value of that forgiveness — up to $20,000 for some — is exempt from federal income tax, citing language in the 2021 American Rescue Plan law. But North Carolina appears to be one of a half-dozen states where amounts would be subject to state tax without a change."(Mooresville Tribune)
