Cameron Harris’s film In Our Words explores what African-Americans and Africans in the Diaspora in the U.S., South Africa, and Europe experience. With a nod to the history of slavery and Jim Crow, Harris asked people of all ages and genders to share what it means to be Black today and whether racism exists. The film expertly dives into similarities between the experiences of Black people in countries like, America, Germany, and South Africa where there is a specific and ongoing history of oppression.

Harris is an independent filmmaker from Richmond, VA. He holds an MFA in Film from New York University and is currently a film professor at Dillard University. Harris has worked internationally in places such as Thailand, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Nepal, in addition to the United States.
