• North Carolina Helene recovery surpasses $1B in FEMA funding, agency reports (wlos.com) — Spruce Pine is set to receive $1.2 million in FEMA funding to repair its water and wastewater distribution systems damaged by Helene, part of more than $1 billion in federal recovery aid statewide. The new grants also support road, dam, and facility repairs across Western North Carolina, with FEMA covering at least 90% of eligible public recovery costs.
