Here are the top stories today in Wilmington:

  1. Site work has officially started in Wilmington for the Michael Jordan Family Medical Clinic building on the corner of 15th and Greenfield Street. Back in 2021, Wilmington native and NBA Legend Michael Jordan partnered with Novant Health and donated $10 million to build the clinic that will bring primary care, behavioral health, and social support services to provide extra support in the area. Novant health officials are hopeful the facility will be completed by the end of 2023 or early 2024. (WWAY NewsChannel 3)
  2. The trial of Raymond Lee Brooks, Jr. for the March 2020 murder of Chris Stewart is now in its second week. Stewarts's body was found at Millers Pond Park in March and Brooks and two others were charged in September. Arrest warrants state that a three-foot metal pole was used in the robbery of Stewart but it has not been verified if the pole was related to the cause of death. (WECT)
  3. Carolina Beach Police are currently dealing with issues regarding the potential individual(s) who continue to damage parking signs in the area. The damage to the signs is costing taxpayers money for continuous repair and replacement as well as causing confusion for visitors in the area. When caught, the ones responsible will be guilty of a Class 1 Misdemeanor, fined up to $500, and potentially required to serve in some community service hours. If you see any activity you believe is connected to this case reach out to the Carolina Beach Police Department. (WWAY NewsChannel 3)
