• Plans to relocate Wilmington rehab hospital move forward (starnewsonline.com subscription) — A key city board just cleared the way for Novant to relocate New Hanover Rehabilitation Hospital from 17th Street to a new three‑story facility behind New Hanover Orthopedic Hospital on Wrightsville Avenue. Wilmington’s Board of Adjustment unanimously approved setback and footprint variances, allowing outdated buildings to be demolished and replaced with a modern rehab center designed to serve about 60 patients.
   

• Tunnel to Towers provides mortgage-free homes to local families of fallen heroes (wwaytv3.com) — A national nonprofit has paid off the mortgage for the family of a longtime Wilmington International Airport public safety lieutenant, ensuring they can stay in their home. The same Tunnel to Towers program also provided a mortgage-free home to the widow of a Camp Lejeune Marine, honoring both men’s service and sacrifice during its 2025 Season of Hope.
   

• One path cleared for Novant Health hospital in 955-acre mixed-use project in Leland (portcitydaily.com) — A new Novant Health Leland Medical Center aims to shorten trips for northwest Brunswick residents who now often drive into Wilmington for emergency care at New Hanover Regional. Leland’s council just rezoned part of the 955-acre Terrapin Landing project to make room for the $251 million hospital, which still needs state approval but could open by 2030 and ease pressure on Wilmington facilities.
