Here are the top 3 stories today in Wilmington:

  1. On Sunday, Wilmington Police responded to reports of a shooting that left one man dead. When police arrived, they discovered a 51-year-old with a gunshot wound in the 1200 block of North 26th Street. EMS responded to the call, but the victim died at the scene. According to police, the shooting appeared to have been an isolated domestic incident, but the investigation is still ongoing. (WECT)
  2. On Friday, Wave Transit revealed it was working to add and replace 20 shelters, 19 benches, and 19 stops in the Wilmington region. In front of Rose's on Carolina Beach Road and Walmart on Sigmon Road, outdated shelters in poor condition have already been replaced and new shelters constructed and installed. The new shelters feature bike racks, solar lights, garbage cans, and ADA accessibility. Seven additional stops will be added to Route 107, College Road, as well as twelve new stops on various routes from 3rd Street to 16th Street and from downtown Wilmington to Wooster Streets. (WECT)
  3. Chandler David Anderson, 29, of Wilmington, a suspect sought in connection with a prostitution and human trafficking investigation, surrendered to law enforcement, turned himself into authorities, and appeared in court on Thursday. Anderson was one of six people charged in a six-month investigation into a human trafficking and prostitution ring conducted by numerous agencies, including the federal government. Anderson was given a $700,000 secured bond and is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Center. (Port City Daily)
