- A Winston-Salem man is dead after a shooting at a Saturday, Jun. 17 house party. Law enforcement was called to a Waughtown Street home around 3:30 a.m. the morning of Sunday, Jun. 18, where police found Victor Marin-Figueroa, 25, dead in the home's front yard. Police say that Marin-Figueroa was attending the party when someone shot him multiple times, killing him; as of Sunday afternoon, there is no information about what led up to the shooting, or if there are any suspects. - Wake Forest University's Demon Deacons have opened their first College World Series in 68 years after a 3-2 win over Stanford on Saturday, Jun. 17. Wake Forest turned around a double play, ending the game, the pretext for a victory dance by closer Camden Minacci and Demon Deacon infielders. The Deacons go up today against LSU. - The University of North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem is celebrating its 60th birthday this week, on Wednesday, Jun. 21. Then-Governor Terry Sanford won the passage of a state legislature bill that created the school in 1963. Sanford would go on to be president of Duke University, and the School of the Arts became part of the UNC system in 1972, and renamed the UNCSA in 2008. (UNCSA)

- The Forsyth Humane Society accepts donations of used vehicles to help support the care of animals sheltered by the Society. (Forsyth Humane Society via Facebook)
- Winston-Salem police were conducting an investigation on an unrelated incident nearby the Novant Medical Center at Silas Creek Parkway when a 17-year-old was brought into the emergency room with a gunshot to his thigh. Police are asking for more information from the public regarding the shooting, as the patient was uncooperative in explaining how he was shot. Anyone with more information is encouraged to call police at 336-773-7700. (ABC 45)
