After 30 Years of Waiting, Western Beltway Receives First Concrete Construction Dates; Final East End Pushing for 2026 Finish (wschronicle.com) — Winston-Salem drivers are finally getting firm construction dates for the long-delayed Western Section of the Northern Beltway, with initial phases slated to start contract letting in 2030 and 2032. NCDOT also outlined major Forsyth County projects, including a new I-421 interchange near Kernersville, widening US 158, and a Silas Creek Parkway bridge replacement that may require a temporary closure after a February 17 public hearing.

Over the next two years, consultants will gather stories, update the church’s National Register nomination, and capture elders’ memories so East Winston’s Black heritage is fully recognized and preserved.

Winston-Salem police officer injured after impaired driver crashed into three patrol cars, WSPD says (wfmynews2.com) — A Winston-Salem police officer suffered minor injuries Thursday night after an allegedly impaired driver crashed into three marked patrol cars on Silas Creek Parkway while officers investigated another wreck. Both the driver and one officer were treated for minor injuries, and the driver now faces multiple charges as police urge residents to move over and choose sober rides.
