- The Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County is gearing up for a busy summer consisting of a number of different events, including (but not limited to) a performance by the Piedmont Wind Symphony on Jul. 15; a presentation by Winston-Salem-born hip hop artist 9th Wonder on Jul. 24; and performances of Cleopatra by the Terpsicorps Theatre of Dance, debuting Jul. 20. - NASA has recently honored Salem Academy and College for its work supporting young women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers by NASA, with a three-year grant of $750,000 to help the school attract and retain women looking to enter STEM professions. The grant awarded to the Salem Academy and College is part of a $5 million NASA Minority University Research and Education Project spearheaded by the Biden administration. (WRAL TechWire)
- Winston-Salem-based Whole Man Ministries is in the process of expanding its outreach programs tailored to homeless veterans and people struggling to make ends meet financially. The church, led by husband-and-wife team Bishop Barry Washington and Pastor Camilla Washington, has recently acquired property at 6111 University Parkway to develop affordable housing in partnership with the city government. Whole Man Ministries has already used grant money provided by the city to house 30 people on tracts throughout the city. (CBS17.com)
