- Winston-Salem's East Ward council member Annette Scippio has requested that the city conduct walking audits for the neighborhoods of Reynoldstown and Slater Park. The goal of the audits is to increase walkability in the areas by identifying the obstacles that pedestrians currently face. The audits would utilize a toolkit from the American Association for Retired Persons that assesses how safe it is for pedestrians to cross streets, navigate intersections, and get to their destinations on foot. - Winston-Salem police have reported that a juvenile has been accused of breaking into the Head Start Center located on Big House Gaines Boulevard and setting a fire. The incident occurred on Saturday, Jul. 22. There were no injuries as a result of the fire, but there was damage to the building. The juvenile is expected to face felony charges of breaking and entering and burning a schoolhouse. (WXII 12)
