- The Winston-Salem Dash baseball team clobbered the Hickory Crawdads on Friday, Jul. 7, putting an end to a 15-game streak by the Crawdads, and handing them their most blistering defeat of the season. The Dash led throughout the game with no points scored by the Crawdads, ultimately ending the game with a 16-1 score in favor of the Dash. The game was played on home territory for the Dash at Truist Stadium. (Hickory Daily Record)
- Triad-based Cone Health hosted a community event at the Hayes-Taylor Memorial YMCA in nearby Greensboro to spotlight the organization's efforts to support communities struggling with access to healthcare. The event, called The Building a Better You Community Wellness event was held on Saturday, Jul. 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and was meant to raise awareness around Cone Health's programs to increase access to health screenings, mental health services, medication, transportation, information on good nutrition, family services, and more. - Downed power lines and utility poles have closed the 1300 block of Reynolda Road between Meadowbrook Drive and Wendover Circle, in both directions, as of the morning of Sunday Jul. 9. The road is expected to remain closed until later in the day or possibly later this week, and police are asking drivers to use detours and abide by all traffic directions given by flaggers and law enforcement.
