Here are the top three stories in Winston-Salem today:
- A 19-year-old from King has died after a driver ran a red light and hit her vehicle during a late-night crash on Monday in Winston-Salem. The accident took place just after 10 p.m. at the intersection of Old Hollow Road and Stanleyville Drive. Officials identified the victim as Samantha Nicole Burgan and reported that the other driver was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover. The incident is under investigation. - Winston-Salem local Allie Letha Love will be celebrating her 100th birthday on Thursday. As part of the celebrations, her family will be holding a drive-by parade for her at her home in Winston-Salem. Love, who was originally from Westfield worked as a cook for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools at Forest Park Elementary School. (WFMYNews2.com)
- Winston-Salem Police Department officials released the name of the four women killed in a head-on car accident on Sunday morning on U.S. Route 52. Officials reported that a man, 45, was traveling the wrong way down U.S. 52 when he crashed into a vehicle carrying the four women. The four people were identified as Blanca Bernal, 50, of High Point; Santa Bernadino, 46, of Winston-Salem; Estafania Hernandez, 32, of Winston-Salem; and Gregoria Jimenz, 64, of Winston-Salem.
