- Downtown Winston-Salem's Fourth Street repaving is now completed, and the road has been reopened. Work on Fifth Street was planned to begin yesterday as part of the city's repavement project and is anticipated to take roughly a week to complete. (WXII12 Winston-Salem)
- On Wednesday, a ribbon-cutting ceremony took place to celebrate the opening of Long Creek Park, located at 5801 Bethania-Tobaccoville Rd. The new 164-acre park features a pool, picnic area, restrooms, and walking trails, with plans to add a bird-friendly, native plant habitat to three acres that were purchased by Forsyth Audubon in partnership with the Conservation Fund. - A new tiki bar called Bamboo Lounge is now open downtown in the arts district. The bar located at 631 N. Trade St. features $10 house cocktails (with two ounces of rum each), including drinks like rum punch, painkiller, jungle bird, mai tai, and queenβs park swizzle. - Heads up, drivers: on Tuesday, Jul. 18, Reynolda Road between Wake Forest Road and Brookfield Drive will be closed from 8:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m. for water system repairs.
