🌱 Higher Bond For Man Accused Of Abduction Attempt + Forsyth Fun Fest

  1. Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill filed a motion on Wednesday, Aug. 30 to increase the bond for the man accused of trying to abduct a jogger on Aug. 23. O'Neill requested that the bond for Dylan Cody Smyers β€” who is facing charges of attempted kidnapping and sexual battery β€” be increased to $1 million after judges settled on a $250,000 bond earlier this week. In court, O'Neill described the crime as "chilling," saying that he believes Smyers is a danger to the community. Superior Court Judge Aaron Berlin issued Smyers an increased bond of $750,000.   2. According to the Winston-Salem Police Department, the teenager accused of shooting a juvenile three times is facing multiple charges. Kameron Laron Wray, 19, is accused of shooting a juvenile in an incident that occurred on Bridgton Place Drive on Aug. 8. Wray has been charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, two counts of attempted assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, five counts of discharging a firearm, one count of possession of a stolen vehicle, as well as drug-related charges.   3. The Third Annual Forsyth Fun Fest is coming up on Saturday, Sep. 23. This community outreach event will feature a job fair, free food, games, and music. There will be COVID, flu, and back-to-school vaccinations available, as well as voter registration forms and a bookmobile. This event will take place at the Health and Human Services Campus located at 799 N. Highland Avenue and will run from 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. (Forsyth County North Carolina Government via Facebook)
